This Lubys tartar sauce recipe has made up of a few simple ingredients and it is the perfect sauce for a fish fry, French fry, fried shrimp, and fried clams. Let’s have a look at all the steps for preparing the traditional tartar sauce recipe. 

Ingredients

  • 300-gram Japanese Mayonnaise

  • 30g capers in Vinegar

  • 1 red onion

  • 3 cloves of garlic

  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp calamansi juice

  • Ground mixed peppercorn

  • Himalayan pink salt

  • Chopped the onion: Take a chopping board and one red onion. At first, peeled the onion and nicely chopped/minced the whole onion with a knife.

  • chopped the garlic: After then, take 3 cloves of garlic and peeled them. Then mince the garlic cloves nicely. Garlic contains important antioxidants that support our body’s protective mechanisms against oxidative damage.

  • Minced the Capers: Take 30 grams of capers in vinegar and grained them. Then minced the capers.

  • minced parsley: take some fresh parsley and minced them. Parsley is a good source of vitamin C and other antioxidants, which help to reduce the risk of different serious health conditions like stroke, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

  • Mixed ingredients with mayonnaise: Now, it’s time to mix all the ingredients with mayonnaise. Take a medium mixing bowl, put 300g Japanese Mayonnaise into the bowl then gradually add all the ingredients including 30g capers in Vinegar, 1 red minced onion, 3 cloves of minced garlic, 2 tbsp fresh minced parsley, 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp calamansi juice, ground mixed peppercorn, and Himalayan pink salt. With a spoon mix well until each ingredient mix with the other.

  • Served the sauce: Serve the sauce immediately with fish fry, chicken fry, French fry, or any of your favorite fried dishes. You can also refrigerate this tartar sauce in an airtight container for 3 to 4 days. In that case, before serving you need to take out your sauce from the refrigerator and then allow it to bring at room temperature.
