How to bake Golden Corral Chocolate Chess Pie

  • Making Pie crust: Obviously, the pie cannot exist without the pie crust. This recipe requires a 9-inch pie crust. You can make your own pie crust or buy one from the store. You’re good to go as long as it hasn’t been cooked. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place the pie shell in the oven and bake for 8–10 minutes or until the bottom of the shell begins to brown. After completing these processes, remove it from the oven and let it cool. Now you have a golden corral crust for the pie.
  • Making Filling: At first take a big bowl where we will add all the ingredients so let’s start with adding 1 and 1/2 cups of granulated Sugar, 2 tablespoons of flour and then follow up with ¼  teaspoon of salt and now we will use the cocoa powder and the amount will be exactly ¼  cup plus 1 tablespoon dutch cocoa powder and afterwords mix well with a whisk.

Now add 5 tablespoons of room temperature salted butter and once we have that in the bowl we will follow up by adding ⅔  cup evaporated milk

Ok, let’s add a pure vanilla extract in the bowl and next we will be adding 3 large eggs, and then we will mix all the ingredients with a wire whisk until the filling gets nicely mixed.
  • Pour the filling: Now we will pour all the filling we mixed earlier in the pie crust which we have cooled it down a little while ago. Nicely pour all the fillings in the crust.
  • Baking the Pie: Place the pie in a 325°F preheated oven. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Place on a wire rack to cool after being taken out of the oven.
  • Pie with Topping: As a topping for the Golden Corral Chocolate chess pie we will be using whipped cream.

Notes

  • If topping with whipped cream, make sure that the pie has been completely cooled before topping.

Tips & Tricks Part

  • Cocoa powder: You should always go for the best premium cocoa powder in the mart to have a better chocolate filling in the pie and our recommendation will be NuNaturals organic cocoa powder.
  • Pie crust: To save time you can always buy a readymade crust from a food supermarket or baking store.
  • Butter: You can pick either salted or unsalted butter for the pie but we recommend going for salted one.
  • Milk: Make sure you use evaporated milk and not condensed milk. Evaporated milk always gives an extra nice silking creaminess in the mix.

FAQ

Can we put it in the freezer?

Chess Pies can be frozen, although they could get a little weepy when they’re thawed, so it’s not really a good idea if you’re making the pie for any occasion or a party at home.

To freeze a chocolate chess pie whole, gently wrap it all around with a couple of layers of plastic wrap, then with a layer of aluminum foil. To freeze leftover slices of Chocolate Chess Pie, place them in a snug, freezer-safe, airtight storage container, separated by layers of wax paper, and seal.

Should we use a whisk or handheld mixer?

Both are fine, but you should use the electric handheld mixer to save time and mix the ingredients faster.
