Bob Evans biscuits are definitely something special. They are made with buttermilk which gives it a heavenly texture and flavor and are free of any artificial sweetener. Buttermilk ensures a light and fluffy biscuit, which can be attributed to the properties of lactic acid. 
Lactic acid is responsible for causing doughs to rise and achieve their desired shape. This process produces beneficial gut flora that can inhibit bad bacteria and help you to maintain a healthy intestinal pH balance. 
Additionally, the biscuit contains self-rising flour, butter,  baking soda, and, salt. That’s all, nothing more. Together these ingredients make a delicious yet healthy breakfast choice that will leave you energized and satisfied for hours on end!

  • 2 cups self-rising flour

  • ¾ cup buttermilk

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter

  • ¼ tsp baking soda

  • Preheat The Oven: While preparing the biscuit dough, let’s put the oven at 425 degrees for preheating. Allow the oven for preheating for 15 minutes.

  • Mix The Dry Ingredients: Take the mixing bowl, add the self-rising flour, salt as per taste, and baking soda into it. Stir with a hand whisk and mix them well. Make sure you use self-rising flour; if you use all-purpose flour, the biscuits won’t be fluffy like bob Evans biscuit,

  • Add The Butter And Buttermilk: Now add the butter in the mixed dry ingredients, make sure the butter is pre-beaten and smooth enough. Now add the buttermilk and mix with the hand whisk. Mix until it’s a moist dough, and then knead with hand. Knead until the dough has a smooth surface; it will take you 12-15 strokes to become smooth.

  • Cut The Biscuits: Spread the smooth dough, keep it ½ inch thick and cut with a biscuit cutter. If you don’t have a biscuit cutter, you can use glass or something round to cut the biscuits in a round shape.

  • Bake: Take a biscuit baking pan, spread the baking sheet, and brush with melted butter. Place the biscuit in the baking pan,  wear your oven gloves, and put the baking tray in the oven for baking the biscuits.
    Keep the oven at the same heat (425 degrees) and bake the Bob Evans biscuits for 15 minutes.
  • Serve: Once the time is up, take out the biscuit. How to understand the biscuits are ready? When the biscuits are ready, you will see the biscuits have turned a little golden brown. Now, let them chill for a few minutes. Garnish with butter on the top and serve as per your need.

  • Make sure you use self-rising flour; if you use all-purpose flour, the biscuits won’t be fluffy like bob Evans biscuits. 
  • You must use buttermilk to make the dough. Or, if you don’t have it, take fat-free milk, add a squeeze of lemon juice, and then use it.
  • To enjoy tender and flaky biscuits soft inside, avoid over-kneading. Overkneading will make the dough too moist.
  • Must beat the butter until smooth and then add; first, I used to think melted butter will do the same, but no, it makes a big difference. 
  • Don’t overbake the biscuits; they will lose the fluffy texture and taste a little burnt.
