Ingredients

  • 2 piece skinless and boneless chicken breast

  • 1 onion

  • 1 to 2 cups of all-purpose flour (use ¼ cup flour for gravy)

  • 2 cups of oil

  • 2 ½ cups of chicken stock

  • 1 packet of salsa

  • ¼ cup heavy cream

  • Salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic/ all-purpose seasoning

  • Italian seasoning 

  • Cayenne pepper

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • ¼ cup chopped parsley

  • 1 tbsp garlic paste

  • 1 tsp better than bouillon chicken base

  • 1 to 2 tbsp soy sauce

how to make Texas Roadhouse Smothered Chicken

  • Chop the onion: On a chopping board, chop the onion. Keep them aside for using them later.

  • Make the seasoning flour: Add 2 cups of all-purpose flour to a large mixing bowl. Then add seasoning powder like one packet of salsa, all-purpose seasoning, and Cayenne pepper. Whisk them to mix well. Keep aside ¼ cup of seasoning flour for the gravy.

  • Season the chicken: Season your chicken with all-purpose seasoning and Italian seasoning. Season the chicken
  • Coat the chicken with flour: Now, coat your seasoned chicken with the seasoning flour.

  • Fry the chicken: Place a frying pan on the stove. Pour oil into the pan and heat them over medium heat. Now place the seasoned chicken over the oil and fry per side of the chicken for about 3 minutes.

  • Drain excess oil from the chicken: After frying the chicken, remove them from the oil and place them on a wire rack to drain the extra oil from the chicken. After frying, all the chicken clean the skillet and reserve ¼ cup of oil for using them in gravy. Drain excess oil from the chicken
  • Make the gravy:  For making gravy for the chicken, add 2 tbsp butter to the pan and allow them to melt. Then add chopped onion and fry them for 3 to 4 minutes. After 4 minutes, add some all-purpose seasoning and 1 tsp better than bouillon chicken base. Allow them to release their flavour. Then add 1 tbsp garlic paste and give them a good stir to make sure everything is well combined. Then add ¼ cup of oil. Then add ¼ cup of seasoning flour. Cook them for a couple of minutes. After a few minutes, add 2 ½ cups of chicken stock and 2 tbsp soy sauce, and ¼ cup of heavy cream. Please give them a good mix and allow them to cook for a few minutes. Then move on to your next step. Make the gravy
