  • 3 pork strips,

  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar, 

  • 2 garlic cloves,

  • 5 small ginger slides,

  • 1 lemon grass root,

  • 2-3 pieces of Keifer leaves,

  • 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce,

  • 1/4 cup of black soy sauce,

  • 1/4 cup of sweet soy sauce,

  • 1 teaspoon of sale,

  • 1/2 teaspoon of msg,

  • 2 tablespoons of oil,

  • 16 oz water,

How to make Hmong Sweet Pork

  • Ready The Pork: Cut the pork strips into small pieces and keep them in a mixing bowl. Now pour ¼ cup black soy sauce, ¼ cup sweet soy sauce, and 2 tablespoons of oyster sauce. Marinate the pork with the sauces, cover, and keep aside for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Ready The Pork
  • Preparation: Take two large garlic cloves, finely chop them and keep them aside in a bowl. Now take the ginger and cut it into large slides. Take 5 of the ginger slides and keep them aside.

  • Saute The Garlic: Put a large pot on the stove, turn it on, and set it at medium-high heat. Pour 2 tablespoons of oil, and wait until hot. Then add finely chopped garlic and Keep stirring until it turns golden brown. Don’t burn the garlic; just saute until golden brown.

  • Add The Pork: Next, add the marinated pork, give it a stir, and fry for a few minutes. Meantime add the ginger slides, 2-3 pieces of Keifer leaves, and stir frequently.
    Then cook on low, medium heat until the pork leaves the water.

  • Add Sugar And Water: Add ⅓ cup of brown sugar, a bit of salt, 1 teaspoon of sale, and 1/2 teaspoon of msg. Give it a good mix and keep stirring. Now pour 16 oz water, and give it a stir. Cover and let it come to boil on medium-high heat.

  • Cook The Pork: When the pork is boiling, reduce the heat to low medium heat, let it be covered, and simmer for 1 hour.

  • Ready The Egg: While the pork is being cooked, let’s ready the egg. Take 3 eggs, and boil them for 7 minutes to get the perfect wet texture. Then peel them and marinate with black soy sauce for 15 minutes.

  • Add Eggs: Once the water has reduced and the pork is almost cooked for 40 minutes, add the boiled marinated eggs and lemongrass. Give it a stir and cook for the last 10 minutes.
