  • Preparation: Before you start making the Chicago mild sauce, gather all the ingredients in one place to avoid leaving any ingredients and make the process easier.  Take some small bowls and add each ingredient in different bowls at the mentioned quantity. Don’t make the mistake of doing some experiment; follow the steps below to get the taste of the Chicago mild sauce.
    Preparation
  • Add The Main Ingredients: Turn on the stove and set it at medium heat, and put a saucepan in it. First, add the barbeque sauce to the saucepan, then the ketchup, and the hot sauce. Mix them with a spatula and let them become a little hot. Then add the sugar; sugar will leave excess water and make the sauce thinner, so let it cook for two minutes to absorb the extra water.
    Add The Main Ingredients
  •  Add Other Spices, And Cook: Now, add spices like onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, and give it a good mix. Pour the water and let it simmer for a few minutes. Keep stirring continuously and check the thickness. Before it reaches the perfect consistency, add the lemon juice. If you don’t have lemon juice, use apple cider vinegar. Cook it for a  minutes and turn off the stove when it reaches the perfect thickness.
    Add Other Spices, And Cook
  • Serve: Mild sauce isn’t something to enjoy hot so let it cool and then serve it with chicken fries or anything you like. Take a small bowl, pour, and serve. If you want to garnish, you can place a parsley leaf on top of it.
    Serve
  •  Storage: If you have extra sauce, don’t worry. You can store it for up to 3 months in the refrigerator.
For that, put the sauce in the fridge for 30 minutes to let it cool completely. Then pour it into a safe refrigerator container, and store it for up to 3 months. Is the sauce already at room temperature? Then you can store it for a maximum of 2 weeks by keeping it in an air-tight container.

Why Should You Try Chicago Mild Sauce

Chicago mild sauce is a kind of hot sauce, but its less spicy than regular hot sauce. You can say it’s a Chicago-style hot sauce. It’s full of flavors and spices, so it’s perfect for adding an extra zing to your dishes.  It has a savory and slightly sweet flavor that pairs well with all meats, making it the perfect condiment for burgers, tacos, pizzas, and more. You can also pour it over stir fry dishes or vegetables, or also use it as a marinade.

Chicago mild sauce includes its versatility, low-calorie count, high acidity levels (which helps to preserve food quality), and antimicrobial properties. Plus,  it can help to keep food fresher longer by acting as a preservative.

Additionally, it can provide some nutritional benefits due to its high levels of vitamin C and various nutrients including iron and manganese.

Tips And Tricks:

  • If you love spicy sauce, increase the hot sauce quantity, or if want it to be more sweet add a little more sugar.
  • If you have a plan to store it for more days, prefer adding apple cider vinegar instead of lemon juice.
  • Serve it after chilling the mild sauce in the refrigerator for a minimum of 1 hour.
