The brown rice tortillas recipe is easy to prepare. This tortilla is made with brown rice flour and arrowroot starch. Follow all of the mentioned instructions for making homemade gluten free tortillas.  

Brown Rice Tortilla Ingredients

  • ½ sprouted amaranth flour

  • 1 cup of rice flour

  • ½ cup of arrowroot powder 

  • ½ tsp sea salt

  • 1 cup of scant boiling water

  • Parchment paper

  • Coconut oil or ghee for cooking

how to make Brown Rice Tortillas

  •  Make the dough: In a mixing bowl, add ½ sprouted amaranth flour, 1 cup of rice flour, ½ cup of arrowroot powder, and ½ tsp sea salt. Mix them well and add water. Then with the help of a wooden spoon or plastic spatula, mix them well. Let the dough sit for 1 minute. Then divide the dough into small pieces.

  •  Smash the tortilla ball: Then add some of the starch flour to it. This flour will help roll the dough out. Take two pieces of parchment paper. Then take a small tortilla boll on one piece of parchment paper and smash the ball out as much as possible.

  •  Roll the dough: Now, Sprinkle some tapioca starch or arrowroot on both sides to keep it from sticking and flattening over. Top the flattened tortilla with another piece of placement paper and roll it with a rolling pin to make them thin.

  •  Remove tortilla from the paper:  Slowly pull back the paper to remove the flattened tortilla from the paper.

  •  Cook the tortilla: Now, preheat your frying pan put some ghee or coconut oil. Cook the tortilla for one to two minutes. Repeat the process of making the tortilla until you finish all the dough.

  • Server the tortilla: Place the cooked tortilla on a hot pot or a plate. If you place them on a plate, flip another plate over the top of the tortilla to keep it soft and warm.
