  • 1 ⅔ cup of all-purpose flour

  • ⅓ cup of vegetable shortening

  • Preheat The Oven: Before we start the cookie-making process, let’s set the oven heat at 375 degrees. Leave it for 15 mins to preheat and get ready to bake the cookies.

  • Beat The Butter And Shortening: Let’s take a stand mixer, or you can do it with your hand as well. In a mixing bowl, take 1/2 cup of butter, and whisk it until breaks down into a few small pieces. Now add ⅓ cup of vegetable shortening and mix again. Continue whisking until butter and vegetable shortening get mixed and turn smooth.

  • Add Sugar: It’s time to mix the sugar and make a soft cream. But you have to be careful not to overmix the butter. Due to overmixing, butter can get separated from sugar and turns soupy and grainy. Add ½ cup of brown sugar, give it a good mix, then add another ½ cup of white granulated sugar and mix until it turns cream.

  • Add Egg And Vanilla Essence: Crack one egg in a bowl, whisk for a minute, then add ¼ teaspoon of vanilla essence, whisk again and pour in the cream. Give it a good mix.

  • Add Dry Ingredients: Take another mixing bowl, and place a strainer on top of it. Add 1 ⅔ cup of all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon of salt, and baking soda to the strainer. Give it a good mix. Strain all these dry ingredients and add to the other mixed ingredients. Don’t add all the mixed flour at once; take time and mix by adding little by little.

  • Add Chocolate Chips And Nuts: Chocolate is everyone’s favorite, and mine too. That’s why I am adding 1 cup of chocolate chips to it. If you want, add some extra or lower the amounts as you wish. If you love crunchy cookies, don’t forget to add some nuts. I have chopped mixed nuts and added ½ cup of them. Now combine all ingredients, and it’s done, ready to make the cookies.

  • Make The Cookies: It’s best to use your hand and give the cookie a shape, but if you want, you can give them different shapes with a cookie cutter. Here I have used my hand and given my cookies a simple round shape. Take one scoop of cookie batter in hand, make it a ball, press, and give it a round cookie shape.

  • Place The Cookie: Line on a baking tray with parchment paper, and place the cookies keeping enough space, so they get space to spread. Brush the top of the cookies with some melted butter, and it’s ready to bake.

  • Bake The Cookies: I have already preheated my oven, so I don’t have to wait anymore. Wear my hand gloves, and place the baking tray in the oven. Set the oven at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 volts and bake it for 10-12 minutes. Because I love the cookie’s little doughy if you want to bake it properly, bake it for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

  • Serve: Once baking is done, take out the baking tray from the oven, keep it on a cooling rack and let them chill for a few minutes or until it cooled down.
    Then transfer them to a plate and serve as per need. You can store them in air-tight containers for upto two weeks.
